today 11.30.06 heard this first from the Fox news and found this online that USCIS-
(meaning U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) Director Emilio Gonzales announced the release of (new)
144 questions and answers for the pilot test of a new naturalization exam."we found that the current naturalization exam process lacks standardazation and encourages applicants to memorize facts just to pass a test, but that doesn't guarantee that they understand the meaning behind the question," said Director Gonzales.
"Our goal is to inspire immigrants to learn about the civic values of this nation so that after they take the oath of citizenship they will participate fully in our great democracy."
Wow! i couldn't agree more. totally concur. I am a 2 year old American now since July 8, 2004 and i have no regrets of changing my citizenship, and as long as i live, i will never forget the day i became an American- one of the proudest day of my life.

when i was preparing for my citizenship examination, i proudly studied my books.... i'm not trying to be all "high and mighty" here but i felt that i must know America and so, i didn't just memorized the 10 questions but i went beyond that.
i encourage, any immigrants that will apply for an American citizenship, they shouldn't just use America for their own gain. i am aware that America has more liberty and freedom for the human race than any country i've been to and heard of. but i am always reminded of what the former president Kennedy once said:
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you- ask what you can do for country". do you see it now? not that it matters, but i don't think highly of anyone who applys for citizenship so they can Just Use anything what we have here. i think that's shallow and low. as low as the infection in the mucous?
if you are gonna be an American that means:
* that you are marrying this country, this country becomes your spouse.
* make this place your very own home. put some real effort of getting to know this place. *appreciate the value, the history and the past of this country
* participate when it's voting time
* pray for the country and for its officials.
* eat "American food"- not just McDonald's
*join the fun in celebrating the national holidays- i'm not just talking about Christmas!
and excuse me, not halloween. LOL!!!
*know your Father of the Country. is it Jay Leno?!? i hope not.
* and the list goes on...
so you get the idea. i'm not saying forget your past and where you came from, but show a whole lot of reverence.
